Welcome to Rowntrees of Riseborough on the web
This site aims to bring together a range of material for all those interested in understanding the family history dating back to the early 18th Century. The family can be traced further back (see genealogical table), but research becomes increasingly difficult especially pre civil war. The family genealogy - Rowntrees of Riseborough - has previously been set out by C. Brightwen Rowntree and Margaret Sessions with the last edition published by William Sessions Ltd in 1996. 2010 saw the transcription of the Rowntrees of Riseborough from printed format to electronic format and is available for family members to view at TribalPages (see link on right). The next stage is to make corrections to the family tree, as despite best intentions, errors find their way into the records over time. There will also be several additions to be made to the tree as much has happened since the last edition of RoR in 1996. If you know of additions or corrections that should be made to the tree then please do not hesitate to email me and I will try to get it updated as soon as possible. Please note, that it is important you provide accurate information. If in doubt about any details then they would be better left out until they can be verified. On these pages you will find photos and text which appears in the 1996 edition of Rowntrees of Riseborough but is not available on the TribalPages site. The family is split into sections (A-F) based on the children of William Rowntree (1727-1798). These are laid out in the header of this page, but if you have any uncertainty as to which section you belong, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will point you in the right direction. Jordans Village in Buckinghamshire are looking for descendants of Fred Rowntree who designed the village 99 years ago. Jordans, a quaker village, is due to celebrate its Centenary on 15th February 2019 and are currently preparing a number of events for their 100th birthday.
